As soon as the 7/8" front sway bar and Koni's were introduced, around 1992.
Both really helped settle the rear. 1992 was also the year the additional
chassis brace was on the rear subframe to help control rear toe (and many
also learned around that time to install new front position rear control arm
bushings to curb that stupid passive steer that made the rear unpredictable.)
The big switch over however occured in late 1994 when then Torsen and 1.8
became available and people discovered the usefullnes of the Torsen LSD even
if the car did weigh a few lbs more.
