The rear calipers on my '85 300ZX had four notches cut into the piston. You
either twist them in with a pair of needle-nose pliers, or you can find a
"socket" (doesn't really look like one, but it fits on a ratchet) to turn them
in. I'd imagine the rear calipers on your Max might be similar.

Subject: Maxima Rear Brake Caliper Problem
This isn't directly autox related, but I thought some of you might could
help.
My sister wanted to autox her 1990 Maxima, but I told her I needed to change
the rear brake pads first since they're so worn down.
Problem is, I have no idea how the piston goes back into the caliper.
There's no retraction screw, and a C-clamp doesn't work.
Is it possible that the piston twists in? I know how my car's rear calipers
retract, but not Maximas.
Thanks for any help,
Brian
