It was used at the Nationals in Chicago.  No, I don't remember what year.

The idea was that by disguising a slalom as something else, they could get
away with measurements smaller than the rule-book minimums.  They got away
with it there, but a subsequent ruling says that if it works like a slalom,
it's a slalom, regardless of the fact that it looks like a box.

Now that the box has been made to follow the dimensional requirements of a
slalom, it's essentially a waste of pylons.  Only three of the pylons are
really needed to define the course.
