Here's a way to up participation:

Split day-long events into two half-day events, where half the classes
run in the morning and half in the afternoon. In that way, you get the
same number of runs, but only have to invest half the time. Of course,
if you want to, you can stay all day, just to gab/watch with friends;
but if you have other obligations.... that'll allow many who'd like to
run more often, but can't often negotiate whole days, to participate.

Some Colorado regions have started doing this, and I think its been
very successful.

If your region attendance is somewhat smaller, you can even allow all
classes at both morning and afternoon events... if you attend one, you
get three runs; if you attend both, you get six... that would both
increase participation, _and_ increase runs for those who are willing
to stay all day to get them. To keep participation balanced, you can
adjust # of runs based on attendance, thereby encouraging people to
go to the less attended half-day.

Just a suggestion (borrowed from the Colorado regions). Thoughts?

Any other regions do things to increase runs, or to reduce time, or to
increase flexibility, increase/decrease participation, etc?

Brian
