like cams and other internals restricted in SP? Do the rules really
mean that someone with a 106hp Civic can't put in a cam which will give
them maybe 5 more hp, but they could just drop in the B16A (Civic Si
motor) and get 160hp legally? I must have really missed something if
the rules truly allow someone to go from the SOHC motor to DOHC VTEC
motor within the rules of SP. >>
The SP rules allow you to up date and back date between any cars listed on
the same line in the SP class section of appendix A. So where a Civic DX and
Si are together, yes you could put the Si motor in the DX body. BUT you have
to swap the entire motor as a unit. No head or cam swaps, just complete
engines. They do split major differences like the 1300's and 1500's, but keep
the 12 valve and 16 valve 1600's together. I have a 98 book in front of me,
and there are 4 separate lines for Civic, and 2 more fo CRX. And of course
the Acura Integra has it's own line, but all on one, Hmmm. How about a Type R
motor in a first gen Integra??? I just looked at the proposal for the "new"
SP and in DSP it has Integra GS-R on one line, and Integra NOC on another
line. And in CSP they have Integra Type R, Darn, they caught that one ;-)
