You make a valid point there, Jan. I, too, know of people who have
been ripped off while in Topeka. Let's face it...our cars and some of
our tow vehicles DO stand out in a crowd and make easy targets for the
criminal type. But it's not just in Topeka. It happens all over the
country. And it's not just the responsibility of the city hosting us
or the various motels at which we stay to provide security. It's also
our individual responsiblity to make sure that our vehicles are as
uninviting to thieves as possible. I keep my tools, jack, and other
necessary stuff in the back floor of my extended cab S10 pick-em-up.
But I always cover everything with an old dirty blanket before I call
it a night. Alarms are good, too, as long as they don't false-trigger
and wake up everybody in the motel for no apparent reason!!!
