Actually the stock linkage is just weird. The return spring is attached at one
end to the throttle arm and at the other end to a sort of bell crank. Inside the
return spring is a rod with a tee nut on the end. This tee nut sits in a cradle
of the bell crank. When testing this spring most people will push on the bell
crank instead of pulling on the throttle arm. When they push on the bell crank
the rod falls out of its cradle thus causing the problem. It's kind of weird
until you see it. But basically it's designed to work that way. It'll never come
off unless somebody pushes it the wrong way. Im almost certain this is the same
in all stock 1st gen RX7's.
