While you get the warm and fuzzies, I see the timing of DC's announcement as
a way of minimizing bad press. If they had stopped the programs before the
end of the season there would have been a huge fuss and lots of bad
publicity. With their timing, they minimize this years fuss (even giving
some the warm and fuzzies) and get 3-4 months for people to forget why
they're pissed off at DC before next season.
Some will stay with the Neons because they perceive that the Neon will
remain competitive, some will move on because they now despise DC for
neglecting them, some will move on because they think they know the next
great car. But all of it will happen with a muted tone because of the
timing.
