Hi Jeff
What seems to help me is to say to myself slow down (That doesn't
necessarily mean drive slowly).
It helps to slow the adrenaline rush, the mental thinking about the course
& all the other assorted inputs to the brain just before a run.
I work on blocking out thinking about other "stuff" & focus attention on
course visualization.
Each driver has her/his own way of focusing, etc. that they learn what
works best for them.
Good luck & watch out for those mental committee meetings!
