It didn't seem to slow John Ames down much, not even with a live axle. Not
even that little 4.6L engine. Maybe autox has more to do with driving
talent than we think??? Besides, it's not our car's fault that an IRS is a
$20,000 option on the Camaro. Go complain to GM, not to SCCA. If you car's
not competitive in it's class, maybe you need to go buy one that is? (gee,
it felt good to say that...I dunno how many times I was told that back when
DSMs weren't competitive in ESP!)
You can't even get real race car drivers to agree that AWD is better than
RWD. Of course, AWD is banned in most racing circuits. Audi called it "The
Unfair Advantage", and they're one of the reasons it's banned in some of
those racing venues, for winning too much. It's a definite advantage in
ProSolo. This rule change affects both the AWD and FWD DSM's, however, and
I've seen a pretty fast FWD DSM. It's an obvious attempt to slow them down
so the V8 cars can keep up...as if anyone has ever shown the DSM to be an
overdog in ESP.
