Hey, North Texas coneheads--did you see the Sunday business section of the
Dallas Morning News? Billy Meyer, the builder of the very successful Texas
Motorplex drag strip south of Dallas, has broken ground for a $74 million
(no typo) drag strip in Grand Prairie (between Dallas and Ft. Worth) that
will seat 60,000 (again, no typo) in a huge horseshoe amphitheater
surrounding the start area. The plan published in the paper shows what seems
to be a huge parking lot on the SW side of the stadium. Hopefully ol' Billy,
a former dragster himself, would be willing to consider supporting sports
car racing by making the lot available cheap. It's supposed to open in 2001.
