As a newbe to autox I was rather intimidated by attending Event #1 at
Fort Myers in March. Well I had a blast!!!! I know my experience at
Fort Myers may not be the norm but most of your concerns below should be
unfounded.

I paid $55 for the National Event.

Paid $2.00 for decals. Plus Friday I paid $10.00 for some practice
launches at the christmas tree. Worth it.

Hmm.... rain???? what's that???? Fort Myers <-- where it hasn't rained
for 60 days and 60 nights and is going to burn down soon.
>I stood in the rain
I am sure this had a large factor in your disappointment with the
event. Rain like that would tend to spoil any event.

Timing ran flawlessly at the first event.... Biggest delay was about a
1/2 hour after a Z3 drove through a chain link fence while the safety
stewards reviewed the course and everyone was trying to figure out how
to get the car back on the road.
>My run group was lining up while I was still working on course, and
That was unfortunate. However in Fort Myers the work run schedule was
separated far enough apart that that could not have happened.

Brrr.... It's 90 hear today and I get a similar effect by standing out
a french frying on the course.

I sure had fun and felt it was worth it.

Don't know the old format. Top 30 finishers were selected for the
challenge run off. Cars from different classes or based on the finish
times were started at different times. Whew... But I really didn't
understand very well being a newbe and all... I do now this.... I HAD A
GREAT!!!! TIME!!!!
