I agree with Phil on this.
The SCCA needs to pull their heads out of the dark place. We have to run
certain decals, I assume to advertise the sport and get new people
involved. (which I am in favor of doing) However we show up at the event
and then put the magnetics on so we can pass tech and advertive the our
great sport. Oh wait a minute the only people that ever see the decal
advertising the sport are people that are competing and obviously know
about the sport. And because of our insurance we have to discourage people
from dropping by and watching, and possibly getting interested. I guess
the point is why such a fuss over decals that only club members will ever
see. Is it so that course workers know that a the current car is not a
renagade from another club that we should chase off.
While I'm on this kick another stupid one was the really pretty new decal
they had at nationals last year that they wanted everyone to have. It says
something like Follow Me to the Fun, and would be great for the back of a
trailer. But rather than give these to members you had to buy them.
Obviously this is not a jab at the price but the principle of having to pay
to advertise the club.
Phil, another trick is to peel just a little of the backing and tack it on
only good enough to last for the event.
There I feel better.
