I tried them at Lime Rock last week, 225/45/15 on 7" rims on the front.
Seemed to work pretty well, front end stuck well in Big Bend.
I compared them to 225/50/16 tires on 8" rims but the 16s were a year old
and pretty hard, they did not stick as well as the 15s. The 225/45/15s
on 7" rim wore fine but the outer edges of the tire do not have much
contact
area due to being squeezed on the rim. They would work much better
on 8" rims, I will try some for autocross. I locked up the new 15s once
pretty badly late braking to keep ahead of a 996 (nice ABS!) but they did
not
show any flat spots. The new Hoosier 03s have been great in that respect,
flat spotting is no real worry.

Some people are thinking of trying the 225/45/15 on a 6" rim (miatas, etc).
That will be quite a job for the tire mounters. Should take 3 strong
people.
The tire would probably have less contact patch than 205s on the same rim,
and
you need serious camber to run these. However it just might work as I
have seen weirder setups.
