The directions for the rings I installed on my pistons (Total Seal Gapless
rings) say to not use synthetic oil until the rings are fully sealed. They
reccommend 3000 to 5000 miles. It might take a while to put that many miles on
my car! The car still uses oil but I'm hoping that's because the rings have
not sealed yet. The AutoX season is fast approaching and I was just wondering
if it is neccessary to not bring the car up to redline until the rings have
completely sealed. Will high rev's cause damage when the rings are not seated
yet? I don't want to have to start the autocross season late but will if I
have to, TIA.
