Naw, they're made out of metal and filtering material similar to
other filters.
Oh, you don't mean a synthetic filter, y'all are taking about a
filter for synthetic oil! :)
Several years ago, a friend of mine was an Amsoil dealer and Amsoil
had a filter for synthetic oil that would trap more particles and
keep the oil cleaner, etc., etc., etc. The down side was it could
reduce oil flow. He said it was not recommended for racing purposes
and the racers that used Amsoil synthetic used conventional filters
so the oilflow would not be reduced.
Also, in 1990, I was invited to a Quaker State function and Kenny
Bernstein was the guest speaker. In the Quaker State #26 Buick that
was driven in NASCAR by Brett Bodine, Kenny said they would run
qualifying (2 laps) with SynQuest. If they were going to run the
same engine during the race, they would drain out the synthetic and
fill 'er up with 20W-50.
Heyward, I'd stick with the OEM Honda filter and regular oil change
intervals. But then, what do I know? :(
Just my opinion, of course.
