Ok, the big ape finally got around to pulling out the rulebooks.
Per the SIIR, Sect. 5.6, Chief Tech Inspector (CTI):
The CTI shall ascertain that the automobiles comply with the SIIR and Supp's.
Specifically, the CTI shall:
A. Inspect and certify that automobiles comply with all safety reg's.
B. Conduct inspections of automobiles at the request of the Chief Steward.
C. Report to the Chief Steward any automobiles that he finds **do not conform
with requirements of SIIR**.
D.**Ensure the appearance of each automobile** is neat and clean. Automobiles
that are not presentable will not be allowed to compete.
And from the Pro Solo rulebook, Sect 11.B. Tech (Safety Inspection):
3. All vehicles must have vehicle ID and contingency in place at time of tech
inspection.
I stand behind my assertion that it is Tech's responsibility to ensure that
some type of vehicle number and class designation is displayed on the vehicle
before it receives a Tech sticker.
