Shocks control the speed of weight transfer. They also keep the tire on
the road over bumps. In a 90 deg corner shocks effect the balance of the car
untill it settles in, and has no effect untill the car rolls back at corner
exit. Race engineers talk about corners as 1st third , mid corner, and exit.
Koni street shocks are adjustable in rebound only. Jounce, or bump, is
what the real racers use to control weight transfer. Eric's Konis can't
adjust for jounce, so they don't work well to change handling (like
understeer). Rebound can be used , by changing the ratio of jounce to
rebound , but this does't work too well. To do this you stiffen the opposit
end you wish to stick better ie if you have push, stiffen the rear shocks.
Agin this only works while the car is in transition, no effect at mid
corner.
Eric the factory says to set the ft at 1.5 turns and the rear at one . I
installed the smaller ft swaybar and set both to 1.5 turns. The car has less
push on entry, puts down power better on exit, and is nicely balanced. It is
slower to turn in thru sloloms however. As for different tire pressures,
shocks won't effect them much.
