Eric,
I put all the pilot bushings I sell on my lathe and make a gradual
radius (chamfer) on one end, which (usually) helps/allows the input shaft to
glide into the bushing the first time. That's assuming the clutch disc is
centered. Jerrad is correct, your input shaft should have the same diameter
and no
step.
