OK, listers, here's the scoop - hopefully someone has tried this
before, and also, hopefully, succeeded!
I'm trying to put together a column-shifted, non-synchro first gear
overdrive gearbox for my '58 Minx convertible. I've got a spare Minx gearbox,
and a non-synchro o/d box from an early Alpine. The problem is, the top covers
won't swap - the column shift box has 8 holes, and the Alpine 'box has 6.
Anybody have any ideas if I can swap the gears from one case type to the
other? Anybody? Please?
