windshield gasket

Hello list-

I have recently placed and aligned the windshield on my Series V and would
like to know what is the proper way to treat the excess gasket that protrudes
from under the ends of the windshield near the wing windows. Do I simply trim
it flush to the end of the frame or should it be wrapped under and riveted or
something else? Just curious before I cut it. Thanks.
