Perhaps some of you Alpine racers could drop John a line at
amjanger@attbi.com? Let's hope we hear stories of him worrying the Porsches
soon.

Subject: Racing Sunbeam Alpine
I have recently acquired a very nice 1966 Series V race prepared Alpine and
completed my first race day this Saturday. I love the car's manners, but am
very interested in finding out all the modifications that have been run on
these cars during the sixties. My club (SOVREN) will let me use documented
alterations on my car, and it could definitely use help in the oomph
department.
I'm looking particularly to find out if there is any evidence of Webers, or
other high performance carburation being run on the cars before 1970, as well
as whether any period racers fitted their cars with Tiger rear axles and disc
brakes. Also, I am currently running side draft Strombergs - is this the
optimum legal setup? How are the downdraft Zeniths?
The car is run in the Pacific Northwest, and I plan to campaign it heavily in
the forseeable future - I just need to make more power (legally) so I can fill
the mirrors of the Porsche guys.
