Hi all,
I have had considerable interest in this option to fit a toyota 5 speed to a
Sunbeam Alpine (1600 or 1725). Dellows are ready to take orders but do not
have internet access. You can contact me if you are going ahead and I will
pass on your details eg phone/fax and address to Dellows. They already ship
every couple of days to the US and have a US bank account to make things
easy.
They have made a lot of changes to the earlier kits including a new bell
housing so the costs have increased slightly. They now provide a new pressure
plate as well as clutch plate as the origional pressure plate was to high to
allow much space for the throughout bearing in the new housing. The new modern
8" pressure plate is a diaphram type that bolts up to the Sunbeam flywheel. If
you buy your gearbox from a local wrecker the box with a 18" shift position
(from the front of the box to the shifter) will be best however if, like me
you source your box with different shift positions, Dellows have new lids and
sliders to shift the shifter/gearstick position for AU$95. Also get the
wrecker to supply the tailshaft yoke when you get the gearbox, it saves
another $100.
