Ok, ok... let's get this straight from the beginning...

Series I and II - Chrome.
Series 3 and IV - Silver paint
Series V - Black paint.

What I'm not sure about is when they changed from silver paint to black. there
may have been a cross over period... but I'm not sure off of the top of my
head. I think it's documented, but I'll have to look it up.

I was referring to Series 3, 4 and 5 Alpines this morning when I said none were
chrome. I should have been more spacific. Sorry about that. - Ian

The E-Brakes on both my Series II's are chrome. I guess this means they
aren't original.

Series 3&4 have the silver ones and Sv has black. I've never seen brown.
If it
has a round silver plastic button on the end without a flare then it
gets painted
silver. If it has the flared or hooded button on the end then it gets
painted
black. They were never chrome.
