The Alpine was NOT the first James Bond car. At the beginning of Doctor No,
while he is still in England, James Bond is driving a vintage Bentley. THAT
is the first James Bond car (according to the book, he owned it), the Alpine
was a borrowed/rented car in Jamaica. It IS the first James Bond chase scene
car-he is chased by a 1939-40 LaSalle Hearse which is magically transformed
into a Humber hearse when it goes over a cliff! In the original Dr No book,
the Alpine was a "Classic" 1953-54 roadster, not the post 1960 roadster.
