John,
Series 5 will have a slightly wider track at the front than the early
cars (I'm not sure when the change happened, can anyone else help?).
It's not much wider, between 1/4 to 1/2 an inch I think, but it may be
significant given that there is not a lot of clearance to play with on
the front of an Alpine with 6" rims fitted.
