Since the Series 1 Alpine was only offered in 5 colors, Glen Green,
Thistle Grey, Moonstone, Embassy Black, ad Carnival Red, and James Bond was
driving a Wedgewood Blue car, a color that was only offered for Series II, I
am going to keep thinking it was a series II. I will admit that there were
some cars that may have got painted colors near the end, or beggining of
production because Rootes never had hard and fast rules, but I would rather
go with the law of averages. I can see for certain that it was not a series
3 by looking at the windshield.
Having read the book, you are correct that it was a 53-54 Alpine. of course,
it met a different fate than in the movie. Lou
