Yes, I wrote several. Mostly the humorous kind. Our shoe in was Don Hager.
Don won a SCCA National Title in a Cobra in the sixties. He would drag us
young guns around and introduce us to hot shoes of that era. I have pictures
from a June Sprints race at R.A. with Paul Newman and his car(s). Hager still
has the car in storage in Peoria, IL.
Another fellow who wrote / reported is Tom Stafford. I don't think we were in
monthly, but from time to time. We sent stuff out in mass. So exactly which
mags and months I simply don't remember. Another cog in the wheel was / is
Alan Kupferschmidt. We were able to obtain press passes to most of the "BIG"
Races at Road America. Alan would stand next to the guard rail about 50' down
the inside turn 5 at R.A. and shoot pictures, he's crazier than me AND THAT
TAKES A WHOLE HELLAVA LOT OF CRAZY !!!!!!!!!!!!! If you've been there you
know this is where a car heads for in an over correction spin. ( Remember, he
would be looking at it through a lens !!!!!!!!!!!! YIKES )
Alan will be the race chairman for this years Blackhawk June Classic at
Blackhawk Farms Raceway near Rockton, Illinois.
So he is still CRAZY.
( He's also one hellva good driver. We raced in the same race group until
Alan retired his car and number last year. This retirement came after 20
years of racing the same '62 MGA 1500 in at least 100 events and NEVER having
an on track incident, AND he always raced in the rain and snow and whatever
other crap. )
If you are really bored you could read an article I wrote for Ian's site.
Look under Past Features or something like that. I think the title is " In
Search of My Rootes". Hope you chuckle !!!!!!!
