Ian & Rob,

Not a straight forward answer as it depended if the car was fitted with steel 
or wire wheels, overdrive or non-overdrive.

This is what I found:
Early axle was replaced starting with B9108431 RHD, B9108158 LHD, B9108282 
LHD with wire wheels, B9108372 RHD with overdrive, B9108397 LHD with 
overdrive, B9108274 RHD with overdrive and wire wheels and B9108232 LHD with 
wire wheels and overdrive.

This axle was the used all the way up to the into if the Series V.
