dear listers
i work for one of the largest ford dealer in western canada, let me give you
a taste of what it is like on the other side of the fence!
i work mainly as a techncian, but also fill in as a service writer and the
shop foreman, when ever it is necessary. we have quote "customers" who did
not buy thier vehicle at our dealership, do not do any of thier maintenance
through our dealership, but are certainly banging the door down and
demanding all kinds of repairs as far as "waranty items are concerned", let
me make this short and sweet, ford builds vehicles, cars and trucks. and
that is all they build. they do not manufacture the tires, in fact they buy
them from firestone just like any other "customer", and so do not warranty
tires, firestone, goodyear, michelin or otherwise. ford out of pure
courtesy is looking after thier "customers" by replacing thier firestone
tires, they could, if they wanted to, tell everyone with firestone tires to
"pound sand", but they haven't, be very thankfull that ford is looking after
you, because firestone may not be around long enough too. furthermore some
of these "customers" have over 100,000 kilometers on thier tires, lets face
it tires with over 100,000 km's of wear on them are well past thier life
expectancy. but there is mr "customer", never seen him before in 8 years,
demanding we replace his worn out old bald tires with brand spanking new
michelins. take my rant for what it is, have a nice weekend.
