FWIW, my headers are Jet Coated. They claim a 20-25% reduction in heat.
If heat is a factor, then I could still wrap the tube with header wrap just
near the alternator.
Admittedly, they are close. The alternator is entirely in front of the
header, the header does not go around the alternator. However, at the top
rear edge, the pipe comes close.
When running, or just stopping, should the alternator be warm, hot, too hot
to touch? I'd say it is warm to the hot side, but not sooo hot that I
can't touch it.
