I re-read my email and noted I made typo and could probably make the whole
thing easier with a diagram. First, the typo in the third sentence should
have read: "The back of the alternator has a post marked "B" which is of
course for the battery. It goes to the battery side of the STARTER
SOLENOID - where all the other brown non-keyed power go to."
Here are the wiring diagrams, both stock, and how I changed them. "N"
means brown. The rest of the colors are correct for the letter: White,
Green, Yellow and Purple. The second color letter is the stripe. The "
---" are the wires with the "[ ]"s showing the color of that wire. The "
{ }"s are the items the wires end at.
STOCK:
keyed power --[W]--{dash light}----[NG]---{warning light simulator}---[NY]
-----{alternator}
REVISED:
keyed power---[W]--{dash light}---[NG]--------{splice together}---[NY]
----{L on alternator}
STOCK:
{battery}--[N]--{starter solenoid}--[N]--{alternator relay}--[NP]
--{alternator and control box}
REVISED (three options):
{battery}--[N]--{starter solenoid}--[N]--{splice}--[NP]--{B post on
alternator and control box end taped up}
{battery}--[N]--{starter solenoid}--[N]--{splice on extension}----{B post
on alternator}
{battery}--[N]--{starter solenoid}--[new bigger wire]----{B post on
alternator}
(Note I realized that made a larger wire directly from the alternator to
the starter solenoid and didn't use any of the stock wires for this wire
from the alternator to the starter solenoid.)
