Seat Belts

I am planning on putting seat belts in my wife's 1962 sunbeam II and
contemplating converting positive ground to negative ground.  If someone out
there has installed seat belts or converted the electric in their car, is
there anything I need to know about these projects or are they pretty
straight forward.  I hear about GM alternators, which model and year car
fits?  One of the sites had a foreign car alternator.
