Jim---The usual suspects are any of the U-joints, but since you've had this
vibration for some time, it should've gotten worse.

I'll suggest that you check out the exhaust system, front to back. Bang on
different pieces with your hand to check that one maybe too close to the frame
or body. (Best done with the car weight evenly distributed, like when on the
road. Got a nearby muffler shop that'll do this for you)?

I have had this not too severe of a vibration for some time. It kind of has
me stumped as to what it might be. The TR6 is a 1974 with a standard 4
speed tranny. The vibration only occurs when accelerating in fourth gear.
In any other gear, it is not there. Release the throttle in fourth gear and
the vibration goes away. To increase acceleration on the flat and level,
will increase the vibration, but to increase the throttle input to climb a
hill does not increase the vibration. The vibration can be felt through the
accelerator pedal and the steering column, but, as I said, it is not severe
but it is constant under the conditions noted. Any thoughts would be
greatly appreciated. Jim
