I couldn't agree more. I "suffered" with the stock 4-speed until I got wise
two years ago and added the O.D.
It makes a big difference in engine noise at highway speeds and adds a
couple of miles to each gallon used.
Adding the wiring and relay is straightforward. I have my A-type set up so
the OD works in 3rd and 4th. I could have it work in 2nd as well!
If you can swing it, add the OD.

Bud:
Depends on the mileage and condition of course, but I would guess no
more
than $300, with the low end being $150. Don't take my word for it, go to
eBay
and search the completed listings for TR6 transmissions, and see what they
sell for.
If I was going to swap transmissions, I would toss in an OD tranny.
For $1500
you can get a rebuilt OD tranny that will add $3000 or more to the value of
a
car in otherwise good condition. So says my LBC mechanic.

List,
What should one expect to pay for a good condition 4 speed TR6
transmission these days?
Thanks
