        I would try heat next. Use a MAPP gas (MAPP burns hotter than propane)
torch to get it as hot as possible, then quench it with oil. Do this a couple
of times. I would say use acetylene, but you could damage the aluminum
casting.
        Anyway, the heat and oil will loosen the plug up, and hopefully you
can back that baby out. I had a similar problem, and when I finally wrestled
the tortured, mangled remains of the plug out of the hole, I replaced it with
a hex socket NPT pipe plug. No more problems.

Question for the group.  My father made the classic mistake of
draining his 6's transmission fluid in the gearbox before removing the
fill plug, and of course he is now having problems removing the fill
plug.

So, he is looking for fresh ideas.  His last resort is drilling it
out, but he is afraid of metal shavings getting into the gearbox.  Any
suggestions or tips?
