Studs are installed finger tight only. Put the head on, then the
nut and torque as specified in Bentley. The big advantage of studs is
that the threads in the block are preserved because there is no axial
friction as the nut is tightened. Turns out that the axial friction
generated as a screw is tightened plays a major role in degrading the
strength of the threads. Think about aluminum, after tightening
something a couple of times, the threads will pull out - same thing
happens in iron, it just takes a little longer.
