Some of the replacement cables have a plastic bushing/bearing at the
upper/speedometer end, the originals were metal. In addition to the
3/8" maximum mentioned, make sure that no part of the bushing projects
beyond the cable housing front /end face of the housing when the inner
cable is fully seated. Sometimes the Nylon bushing needs to be
shortened a bit.
