Brian,

The overdrive speedo cable starts at the angle drive on the right side of the 
transmission.  Drapes over the trans and bell housing to the left side in front 
of the clutch cross shaft.  Up through the hole (rubber grommet) next to the 
firewall side of the pdwa valve.  The through the firewall the first hole 
(rubber grommet) from the left fender between the wiper motor and the battery. 
Then to the speedometer.  As far as the cable lube I use LPS 2 
industrial-strength lubricant since it's available in my garage.  When I was 
younger I used graphite.  I'm sure other people use other products like WD-40 
or a teflon spray product.
