Dave, I've never seen a TR250 tranny but every TR gearbox I have seen
has looked pretty much the same with a short turret for the gearstick to
insert into, a collar that together with a spring holds the shifter in
place, a bolt at the back that retains the collar to the top cover and
the two side adjuster bolts that go through the collar into threaded
holes in the turret in the top cover. The top cover is the same for OD
and non-OD other than the interlock switches. It sounds like in your
case the threads in these side holes are missing meaning either a new
top cover or a repair is needed.

Subject: Adding A Type OD to my TR250

I have slowly been gathering the parts to install an A Type OD tranny in
my 250. I have a couple of simple questions: I see that two wires in
the upper harness go the fuse box. Which terminals and what side of
that terminal do they attach to? Second, my OD tranny doesn't have the
shifter installed. I pulled one off of a parts tranny and thought I
could throw it on the OD one but the two holes on the side for the pins
to hold the shifter in the proper place don't seem to fit. The pins are
threaded but the OD tranny doesn't appear to have any threads to screw
into, just a clear hole.
Am I missing something? Can I find the right pins for this?

Thanks for your help!

Dave
