I guess it depends on what your definition of "factory" is, but my
definition is that the system was installed on the assembly line where
the car itself was built. I think our debate is more about semantics
than technical merits of a particular system.
I said they were all dealer installed - i only took issue with the term
"various" - there was one particular kit made specifically for these cars,
sourced thru BL and a whole bunch of these installed for a few years and when
those
ran out "various" dealers made up "various" kits on their own, so ALL of
them were NOT "Various" kits as i think the original post implied. I only
offered this as an interesting bit of history - trivial as it might seem.
The kit i installed in my 73 when i restored it is exactly like the kit my
74 had when I bought it back in 1977. It doesn't intrude on the passengers
space at all. I have it running, with the York compressor, on R-134 - I'm
pretty
sure I'm gonna be glad to have it next week in Dallas.
