John,
Glad to hear someone else has seen this. I have wondered whether what I was
seeing was real since you wouldn't be able to tell there was an issue if you
didn't use the timing light. This was not present until the end of last
driving season; could my alternator be on its last legs?

I watched the video and I've seen the same effect on my car. I believe
it has to do with the placement of the inductive pickup on the timing
light and its proximity to the alternator. If I move the pickup to
different locations, the flashing becomes steady. John Mitchell 76 TR6
