Temp compensator

Aren't these the things that everyone ends up blocking off.  If so, you may 
want to save your money.
   
  <I'm in need of a pair of the small plastic conical plastic valves that 
are
attached to the bimetal strips.

All the parts sources want to sell the entire unit @ $60 a pop>.
