Some people report that they have prized these things off with a hub
puller but it took a 25 ton press in my case to separate them and they
do go with a bang.

Subject: Stub axle removal
Hi all,
OK, I'm stumped. How do you remove the stub axle from the housing to
replace the seal. I have tried a gear puller but I can hear the axle
laughing at me as tighten it. I guess the answer is going to be a
press. After 30 years of assembly , these two have grown on each other.
I would try heat but I don't want to damage the bearing.
Is this the common method or is there another method I can try.
