Stu---Moss, for one, sells what they call a "heavy duty gasket" which
might work for your friend. While these manifolds are off, I suggest
that they be laid on a surface plate, a mirror or pane of glass and
check for trueness (with a feeler gauge)
If they look good, then see if there's enough clearance between the down
pipe and the flange of the oil pan. Something like this has been known
to hold the manifold away from the head, enough to cause the gasket to
not compress.

StuBeatty@aol.com Date: Sat, Sep 3, 2005, Are there any exhaust gaskets
on the market that are thicker than others? A friend of mine has an
exhaust leak. The gasket has been replaced and the manifold has been
retightened, but he still has a leak. He feels a thicker gasket might
solve his problem.
