Hi John
Your existing ring-gear is on the right way...for a TR6. The ring gear is the
same one as used in TR4's. The thing with the 4, is that the starter engages
from the BACK of the ring gear. When installing this ring gear on a 6, ya need
to have the entry bevel on the teeth face the starter pinion...which means the
ring gear has to go on the other way, which means the entry bevel on the ring
gear faces backwards, where it does no good at all. This makes the ring gear a
little more difficult to install, but that's what has to happen. If you've got
it in your hands now, REPACE IT! And, replace the starter pinion as well so
you're not putting old teeth against new.
Have fun.
