Folks:
Marc is correct. I went back and took another look, sure enough
it is a standard 4 speed pinion (at least, it is that style) so it would
not be useful in an OD. So, the retainer and the angle drive are all
that would be useful for an OD conversion, and you would need to toss
the pinion.
Might still be enough to warrant a bid.

I saw your plug for the Angle drive and speedo drive pinion. While the
Angle drive is usefull (it fits if one chooses to do so also to the
standard gearbox), I think the speedo drive pinion is for the standard 4
spd gearbox and not for the J type OD. The pinion for the J type does
not have the 'top' on it, not even digging into tooth count and gear
mesh etc.
