John---I've done the glass replacement several times. I found it easier
to bolt the windshield frame into place before installing the glass.
It's easier to install the rubber seal onto the frame flange without
the glass. It's easier to install the rubber seal around the glass when
not attached to the frame. It's slightly easier to feed the glass into
the rubber seal, using the "cord" method, and lots of lubricant!
You shouldn't scratch the frame paint with either method.

Hey Guys, Just got done painting my windscreen frame for my TR6 and I
need to install the glass,is it easier to install with the frame in the
car or out as not to scratch the frame? Thanks!
