rear shock R and R

I was wondering the same thing after looking at my shocks the other day.  I am
hearing a clunk/rattle when going over bumps and sometimes through turns which
sounded like a loose shock.  Checked it and it's not loose so I was wondering
if the link is bad.  How do you know if it is?  In a related matter, is anyone
familiar with the rear shock conversion kit Hermann van der Akker makes?
Anyone have it installed, any problems, wheel/tire clearance issues?  Thanks.
