 Mitch V.---At lower engine AND road speeds, (under 1500 rpm) some cams
don't like to run at a steady throttle.  Yours could be one of them.
It is possible that you are running too rich, making this symptom more
noticeable.

The intake manifold "hot water" tube should be working, for a more
civilized operation.

Also, be sure that you do not have the float bowl under vacuum.
(Stepping on the throttle removes vacuum and fuel flows in, and
everything's happy, for a while)

A/F mixture question 
burbling, hmmm 
my car runs very strong but when just cruising and under not much of a
load it reminds me of an old perculator, similar to burbling maybe. my
plug colors are right on at full rich and 2 carbs. dashpot oil is ok. it
seems happiest when it's under a little load or most happy floored. 
i was starting to wonder if the hopped up cam causes this.
